It’s that time of year. Time to roll out the new version of Revit. Each year I quickly scan through the list of new features to see which ones stand out and which ones are my favorites. Revit 2026 is full of new features and improvements. There are three, though, that stand out to me. Here are my top 3 new features in Revit 2026.
Toposolids Improvements
The improvements to Toposolids will enhance your site modeling with greater efficiency and precision. There are 5 main improvements to Toposolids.
- Recess Sub-divisions
- Create Sub-division Types
- Overlapping subdivisions are allowed
- Sub-divisions listed as a Toposolid subcategory, accessible in Schedules, Exports, Filters, and Parameters
- Auto-upgrade of legacy Subregions
The one that stands out to me is the ability to have Recessed Sub-divisions. Sub-Divisions allow users to divide a Toposolid to indicate different elements such as sunken roads or landscape beds. In prior releases of Revit, users could input an offset value to raise the Sub-division but were not allowed to enter a negative value to recess the sub-division. In Revit 2026 users can now enter a negative value that will reflect a recessed surface. This allows for more accurate site/landscape models.
Saved Positions on Sheets
The new "View to Sheet Positioning and Automated Placement" feature in Revit 2026 introduces robust tools for managing view placement across sheets. The Positioning & View panel allows users to save specific view positions as "Saved Positions," which can be reused across multiple sheets for consistency. The View Anchor settings provide precise control over alignment by pinning views relative to specified anchors (e.g., Center or Top Left). This ensures that plan orientations or typical layouts remain coordinated across sheets. Additionally, the integration of the legacy Swap View on Sheet functionality enhances workflows by merging it with the new anchor-based positioning system. Users can also reset title block positions via the right-click menu for efficient corrections.
Coordination Model Enhancements
Revit allows you to link in Coordination models from the Autodesk Construction Cloud. In Revit 2026, new features are available to allow users to have precise control over what categories are visible and how they are colored in views. Users can access these settings inside of the Visibility/Graphics dialog. A new tab will be available when Coordination models are attached. This will allow users complete control over the graphics and visibility of the categories in the linked coordination model.
